Titan

Titan is a truly mysterious world hidden beneath a thick orange haze. Larger than Mercury, this moon of Saturn is unique in the entire Solar System: it possesses a dense atmosphere, made mostly of nitrogen, similar to Earth's… but much colder and much stranger!

What makes Titan truly special:

• Lakes and seas… but of liquid methane!
  At -180°C, water freezes like stone, so rivers, rain, and even waves of methane and ethane sculpt its surface. A whole weather cycle, just like on Earth, but cryogenic!
• An iconic golden mist
  Its orange atmosphere creates a soft, almost magical light, giving Titan the look of an alien planet ideal for exploration!
• A potentially habitable world… but not as we imagine it.
  Beneath its icy crust, Titan could harbor a hidden and protected ocean of liquid water, where scientists dream of one day finding traces of life.

And its uniqueness doesn't end there! In 2005, the Cassini probe (sent by NASA) carried a lander (Huygens), which transmitted unique images and data about this marvelous moon. A future robotic NASA mission, named Dragonfly, plans to explore its surface in more detail starting in 2028!

NEWS FLASH: In Greek mythology, the Titans are primordial giant deities, children of Earth (Gaia) and Sky (Uranus). They reigned during the Golden Age of Greek mythology and preceded the Olympian gods. Their leader, Cronus and Rhea, gave birth to Zeus and his brothers.
