Sedna

An icy dwarf planet that travels so far from the Sun, Sedna takes nearly 12,000 years to orbit it! It inhabits the cold, almost unexplored depths of the Solar System, far beyond the Kuiper Belt, in a region scientists call the inner Oort Cloud.

What makes Sedna truly unique? Its extreme distance : it never approaches the Sun like other known objects, making it one of the most isolated celestial bodies we have ever discovered. It is therefore considered a dwarf planet and a "sednoid," due to its incredibly elliptical orbit. It was the first sednoid discovered, which led astronomers to create this category of objects. Its dark red surface, likely due to organic ices altered by millions of years of radiation, gives it a mysterious and almost mythological look, perfect for a sticker!

FLASH NEWS: Her name is derived from the goddess of the sea and all marine animals in Inuit mythology. She was sacrificed by her father during a storm, losing her fingers (which transformed into fish, seals, walruses, and whales). She became a deity following this incident.
