And this extreme contrast doesn't stop there: at night, temperatures drop to nearly -180°C, while during the day they climb to +430°C, a world of oppositions, between fire and ice, between shadow and light.

Mercury is not, in fact, the hottest planet in the Solar System (that title belongs to Venus). This is due to the absence of an atmosphere, which does not create a layer to retain heat. Its surface still bears the marks of the collisions that marked the beginning of the Solar System. This makes it a natural time capsule.
