Eris

Eris is a dwarf planet in the Solar System, located far beyond Pluto in the Kuiper belt. Its unique features include its very distant and eccentric trajectory, which takes it far away from the Sun, and its size comparable to that of Pluto, which led to the International Astronomical Union redefining the term “planet,” and costing Pluto its title.

Eris is composed mostly of ice and rock, and its extremely distant and cold surface barely reflects the Sun's light, making it one of the most mysterious and intriguing bodies in the Solar System. It also has a moon, Dysnomia, which allows scientists to measure its mass and learn more about its history.

FUN FACT: In Greek mythology, Eris is the goddess of discord, rivalry, and conflict. Her primary role is often related to war and disputes, and she is famous for setting in motion events that led to the Trojan War.
