Epimetheus is a small, irregular moon of Saturn, measuring about 116 km in diameter. What makes it unique is its orbital dance with its neighbor Janus : the two moons share a co-orbital orbit around Saturn, swapping positions every four years without ever colliding. This rare phenomenon is the only one known in the Solar System!
Its surface is marked by deep scars, remnants of ancient impacts, and cracks that bear witness to its tumultuous history. These features make Epimetheus a living testament to past collisions in the Solar System.
FUN FACT: This moon's name comes from the Greek Titan Epimetheus, creator of animals. Along with Prometheus, he represents one aspect of reflection (foresight for Prometheus and thoughtlessness for Epimetheus).
Sticking on Epimetheus' sticker means taking home a piece of cosmic dance and celestial history, an interplanetary companion for your notebook, your computer... or your imaginary rocket! Get this moon sticker on our website!
