Ehrlichia chaffeensis is a bacterium responsible for human monocytic ehrlichiosis. It is transmitted by the bite of certain ticks , notably the famous star tick ! Once in the body, this bacterium directly targets our immune system, infecting certain essential white blood cells: monocytes and macrophages.

E. chaffeensis is an obligate intracellular parasite : to survive and multiply, it needs to penetrate inside human cells ! Its discreet attack results in sudden fevers, chills, and muscle pain, classic signs of infection.

In more serious cases, antibiotic treatment is necessary to stop the progression of the disease. To avoid being bitten? Remember to wear long clothing, use repellent and inspect your skin after a walk in the forest!

And if this bacteria managed to pique your curiosity without biting you, you can now add it to your collection with our Ehrlichia chaffeensis sticker ! 🦠✨
