Dione

Dione is one of Saturn's moons, with a diameter of about 1,120 km, and is distinguished by its striking contrasts : one half of its surface is riddled with craters, evidence of ancient impacts, while the other shows traces of fractures and smoother terrain, revealing past geological activity.

What makes Dione unique is its reflective icy surface, composed of pure water ice, and its giant fracture paths, which resemble real cosmic scars. Some of these cracks could even hide liquid water beneath the ice, a fascinating clue for research into potentially habitable environments.

FUN FACT: This moon's name comes from the goddess Dione, a Titaness, who represented the mother of the goddess Aphrodite (in some traditions).
