With their appearance of tiny cottony grains aligned in the sky, cirrocumulus clouds often give the impression that the firmament has been delicately textured with a brush. These clouds form very high in the atmosphere, at altitudes of over 6,000 meters, where the air is so cold that the water droplets are actually… tiny ice crystals! They appear in thin waves or regular patterns, sometimes compared to fish skin or a fleecy sky, and signal a dynamic atmosphere at high altitude.

Although they are stunning to observe, cirrocumulus clouds do not produce precipitation and often go unnoticed by the uninitiated. Yet, they are true weather indicators: their presence can signal upcoming changes in air circulation or the approach of a disturbed weather system. Discreet, elegant, and scientifically significant, they embody the subtle beauty of the upper atmosphere.

Want to take this celestial motif everywhere with you? Cirrocumulus is now available on your notebooks, computers and tablets in the form of a scientific sticker: a stylish little cloud for weather enthusiasts… and those who like to have their head in the clouds!
