Basophil

These cells are among the first responders during an invasion, along with their siblings neutrophils and eosinophils, but they are the least abundant of the three. Basophils play an important role in controlling allergies, producing histamine. Histamine acts as a security guard, helping the body expel intruders by inducing inflammation.

NEWS FLASH: This molecule, produced in larger quantities than necessary, causes our body to react very intensely to normally harmless particles such as pollen. This reaction is called an allergy. It is therefore important to take antihistamines during this reaction.
